In order for an article to be credible it must use information including facts and quotations from a reliable source. Also, many major newspapers or magazines, such as The New York Times or Time Magazine, are considered credible sources because they do not print false information. Also, a very important factor to me for credibility is the date of the article. Some people might not pay attention to this, but we have to realize our culture is constantly changing and an article from two years ago may not contain up to date accurate information. Almost all the articles in this section of The Carolina Reader hold a lot of credibility to me because they were published in "The State", South Carolina’s main newspaper. One article, "Homeless People Used to Scare Me," was published at AssociatedContent.com. A website doesn't hold much credibility, because anybody can say anything on the internet. Also the article, "Oliver Mission Plans to Move," was published November 18, 1999. That was almost ten years ago. Many things have changed in the past ten years and information in the article may not be relevant anymore.
